First Look: Mortal Kombat Special Forces

Midway decided that E3 '99 would be the ideal place to show off Mortal Kombat Special Forces for the first time. Midway's booth was rockin' the house. In fact, there were so many people there and it was so loud that you couldn't hear any of the sounds in the game without putting your ear up to the speakers. MK: Special Forces was playable on 4 screens, 2 Nintendo 64 and 2 PlayStation.

Introduction
For those who are unfamiliar with Mortal Kombat Special Forces, here is a quick run down. MK: Special Forces is Midway's second attempt at an adventure/fighting game. (MK Mythologies Sub-Zero being the first) Fortunately, the only thing these two games have in common is sharing the Mortal Kombat title. Mortal Kombat Mythologies was a 2D side scroller where Special Forces is a full 3D adventure game. The game features a strong emphasis on the story element. Leading up to Sonya's appearance in the first Mortal Kombat tournament, Mortal Kombat Special Forces fills in the story surrounding Sonya and Jax's Special Forces group as they battle against the evil Black Dragon cult. The game allows you to choose from either Jax or Sonya. Depending on which character you choose and how events unfold during that level, the story's path can change dramatically, providing the game with extensive replay value.
