Good news for all you MK2 fans! It seems that the emulation protection issues that have been plaguing MAME's emulation of Mortal Kombat 2 have been resolved. According to the MAME WIP page the next version of MAME will support a semi-playable version of MK2 (instead of just watching the attract mode loop over and over). There will still be some graphical glitches and no sound yet, but it is a step in the right direction.
Also the next version adds support for the Mortal Kombat 1 T-Unit version. The T-Unit was a revision of MK1 that used a better, more compact PC Board design -- close to the PC Board design used in MK2. It is not known what was changed game play wise, if anything, with this revision.
