While that would be a nice thing to offer as DLC, the texture artwork is lower quality on the Vita so it would require additional work and resources to get them ready for the console releases. Plus the big problem is that allowing these online is going to potentially cause issues with desync like the other skin releases did. So because of these reasons (and a few more) I think it's better to leave them as a Vita exclusive instead of offering them as DLC for MK9 and instead let the team focus on whatever is next. I'd rather have a whole new game for the consoles than just a few skins.

Plus they've already released Komplete Edition which is also for people who don't have access to PSN/XBox Live. It wouldn't be very smart to release new skins after that.

Right and Komplete Edition didn't add anything that would break online play, that's very important for them to maintain online running as it is without causing problems. Hopefully with the next game they'll find a better way to work with the console makers so DLC additions can be added via system patches or find a way to force a download of compatibility packs. This is a problem with not just MK but all console games with DLC and online play and restrictions imposed by the polices of Sony/Microsoft.

Aren't mandatory packs I've read about forcing people to download them?

I want to see all the UMK3 ninja skins on PSN too, especially since I started using Rain more, but as Pat mentioned I don't see it happening. I'm not holding my breath for it.

I'm just wondering why there is no interest for MK on the 3DS. Someone please tell me if they have an answer I always wait for an answer but more interest is being shown for the Vita than the 3DS

This! At least a little more DLC before the next game would've been brilliant with a patch that fixes all bugs!

Just wait for MK10, you'll get your MK fix and then some It's too late to be releasing DLC now of all times

IMO, it's because most people have home consoles so handhelds aren't really exciting to many, not just for MK, but for just about any game. I have handhelds but I can honestly tell you I only play them once in a blue moon. Just not as great as a home console, especially for someone like myself, who can't really stand playing games on smaller screens.

PAX East: Vita Augmented Reality Arena Confirmed? Just when you thought it wasn't going to happen, early reports coming from PAX East (Penny Arcade Expo) are suggesting Augmented Reality will indeed be a feature of Mortal Kombat when it hits PlayStation Vita, May 1st! Confusion began with the release of a high concept trailer showing Scorpion and Sub-Zero's iconic feud spilling over into every day life -- the street, library and skate park. As major sites began reporting the commercial as evidence of augmented reality in MK, Warner Brothers sprang into action, debunking the myth directly to sources. Series Director Ed Boon even went so far as to tweet very shortly after reports, "Augmented Reality feature in MK Vita? No, just a really cool promotional video." The misreported concept is an undeniably cool use of the PlayStation Vita hardware -- and clearly Boon and the team at NetherRealm Studios thought so too, enough to include it in the game in time for May! A PAX East review posted by 2D-X.com includes apparent confirmation of the photo-background feature, a straight forward selection in arena options. Further integration comes from the use of the devices integrated microphone, which will no doubt be of great benefit as you spear friends into submission on your daily commute, inviting everyone on the bus to, "Get over here!!." This isn't the first time rumors have become reality in the world of Mortal Kombat. At the beginning of the week, we ran a feature story on MK's illustrious history of pranks, rumors, and fake characters, which most recently resulted in the induction of Skarlet -- red masked assassin once rumored to be in MKII, now available as DLC, or packed in as content for Vita and Komplete Edition. The "Fight Anywhere" motto is driving the latest Vita Kombat promotion, a stylish live-action demonstration of kombat in the real world. Kitana steps into an urban environment to show off her moves in the first teaser for the campaign. Source: MKO **edit** Kombat Tabloid: We are also at PAX and can confirm the validity of this article. We have it captured on footage and will be uploading it along with the rest of the content from the show in due time.

Theres been speculation of post and rumors recently that 2 other new character might come into the Vita Version of MK9 not knowing who they may be im assuming maybe Tanya, Frost, Khameleon or Chameleon (since both were part of MKT), maybe even Reiko. Not sure and they are not DLC characters like Skarlet, Freddy or Kenshi already in the franchise
April 15th, 2012 12:08 PM CST - Metal Overlord
It ain't Chameleon
April 15th, 2012 12:10 PM CST - Nasty_Freak
If it's Tanya or Khameleon. I wanna see how well are they made!
April 15th, 2012 12:15 PM CST - Flying Jinko
I am thinking Fujin could be one of them due to those audio file leaks from awhile ago. Or they may just be Shao Kahn and Kintaro playable in the challenge tower.
April 15th, 2012 1:10 PM CST - Metal Overlord
One of them could be Cyber Smoke or Tanya, considering both of them were considered as DLC. Fujin seems to have been considered as well, so it might be him, too. Shinnok was considered, as well, but I think they'll save him along with the "Goro-like character" Ed Boon mentioned way back in July for MK10 In Cyber Smoke's case, he'd be a GREAT reward for the new Challenge Tower. Not gonna hold my breath though

I don't think so. We already know that, so it wouldn't be a surprise for us.
April 15th, 2012 4:35 PM CST - Metal Overlord
What other characters would even surprise us at the point (besides a guest character, which ain't happenin')? The fact that we may seriously be getting new characters in the Vita version especially after NRS saying we wouldn't get any is already a surprise
April 16th, 2012 4:52 PM CST - Dedamn666
I really dont see why they coukdnt do any cross platform stuff for psvita and PS3. Capcoms managing for sfxt and wwe svr 06 managed years ago with Jake the snake. Utter bs if you ask me.
