MovieWeb has a great new interview with the Mortal Kombat web series director Kevin Tancharoen.

Kevin Tancharoen with Jeri Ryan (Sonya)

In the interview it is revealed that the first episode of the series will be debuting before Mortal Kombat (2011)'s release on April 19th, 2011, as we predicted. Following that then we'll get one new episode every week for a total of ten episodes. The interview also covers how the clip accidentally leaked last year, his hopes to go beyond a web series with this concept, and his plans also include Raiden, Cyrax and Sektor as characters in the series.

Thanks to @BungleNoMore for the news lead.

The entire episode with Sub Zero and Scorpion is in Japanese? What the heck? Sub Zero better not be speaking Japanese...

Well everyone knows that HANZO HANSASHI aka Scorpion IS Japanese so it makes sense for it to be in japanese since it's during their origins.

I am terrified about this webseries. i have a bad feeling that it is going to be horrible. Something like this needs to be directed by either the MK team, or with a bunch of input from the fans, cuz the director pretty much seems to be saying: "i really wanted to do something scifi and mysterious so i randomly picked MK and i'm doing my best to overdo it and make up story lines for characters who ALREADY have stories, and make MK fit into the crappily popular movies nowa days, with all these fake relationships and rivalries.

@Trilogy: The director is collaborating with Ed Boon and co on this. Something he Confirmed in an interview with Gamasutra and in the the middle of a twitter convo with Hans Lo of Netherrealm studios on Twitter.

He really comes off as a fan like us in my opinion, the fighting in his rebirth video was awesome and he's really putting work into this series so I think its gonna be good. Just give it a chance at least.

Does anyone know if you'll be able to watch this after it originally airs? Or do we have to watch it at the time of the premier?
