New Captain Marvel Render from MK vs DC Universe

Midway has released a new high-resolution render of <b>Captain Marvel</b> from the upcoming <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/">Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe</a>. The <a href="http://www.worldscollide.com">WorldsCollide.com</a> website lists the character as <b>Shazam</b>, which is appears to be incorrect. The character <b>Shazam</b> is a wizard and <b>DC Comics</b> appears to market <b>Captain Marvel</b> under the <b>"Shazam"</b> label. Granted the confusion is high, but this entry in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Marvel_(DC_Comics)">Wikipedia</a> explains the name <b>"Shazam"</b>.

Because Marvel Comics trademarked their Captain Marvel comic book during the interim between the original Captain Marvel's Fawcett years and DC years, DC Comics is unable to promote and market their Captain Marvel/Marvel Family properties under that name. Since 1972, DC has instead used the trademark Shazam! as the title of their comic books and thus the name under which they market and promote the character. Consequently, Captain Marvel himself is sometimes erroneously referred to as Shazam.

Wow. Looks good, but he looks like a cross between Flash & Superman, hehe.

Yep a mistake, for copyright reasons DC promotes the comic as Shazam! and because of it, some presume its his name.

Well he looks exactly the way I expected him too. Just like they described in the MKast he looks like himself from Kingdom Come. I like it.

But since ive never heard of this character before the MKDC announcement and only then heard of him from you guys explaining him here, i still look at him and think:

"another superman?
"a superman wannabee?"

I know hes not and some people say hes more powerful than superman, but it just seems like if MK threw two ninjas in the game who both had freezing powers. Im sure every other MK fan or non-dc fan who has no clue who captain marvel is said the same thing.

Actually, Captain Marvel is the reason why Superman's weakness of magic came into life. Instead of using alien powers, C. Marvel uses magic. He used his powers to defeat Superman in a crossover comic where the two squared off.

What, like Sub-Zero and Frost?

I love this look, like Glam said it looks very Kingdom Come, and that is where my best memories of Captain Marvel come in. My interest in this game just went up a little more.

Its a populaur match up. The pair have fought many times, usually either Superman wins or they don't end the match with a winner. I only really liked the JLU episode where the to fought. Short and sweet. :-/

where is the love for Shazam?

Still havent seen anything in game or otherwise, aside from this render.

I sure hope they make him as bad arse as he is.

Yeah, Shazam can take on Supes to a point. Superman has defeated him as well in over the years and kicked the crap out of him in the show a bit.
