Ideas for MK11

Bruh, I read "Production Started Before the Release of MKX" and thought it was true because I know they implied having finished the main game of MKX around December/January which was why they were able to work on the DLC characters so early. But I completely missed the part that said "So 2015 January or so" which is 100% false because between January and Launch they were working on balancing, bug fixing, and DLC characters, which is also why we got that large Day 1 patch which included drastically reducing the amount of Koins you gained throughout the game. Now I can rest easily and say that yeah that was fake news, lol.

I haven't read any of this thread, so I apologize if I cover things that have already been discussed:

1. Move back to the "Tournament" aspect of the first few games.
2. Move away from Variations. While I liked them for the most part, I would rather have more characters with focused skill sets than have a bunch of variations for less characters. Particularly when so many characters ended up having one or sometimes two truly viable variations. Give characters robust skill sets that allow for varied gameplay.
3. More new characters. I know everyone has their favorites and must haves, but I would like to see the majority of the roster be new characters. While I will always be nostaligic for the old standbys, I think I have played enough Liu Kang, Raiden, Sonya, etc for my lifetime.
4. While I love the Krypt, I would kind of like to see unlocks focused more on in game secrets. More cryptic like back in the MK1 and MK2 days.
5. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the extra modes comeback like Kombat Chess, etc. I don't feel like these modes were the reason the Xbox/PS2 versions didn't hold up as well (they were actually some of the most enjoyable aspects of those games), I think the diminishing quality was more due to the game just not being suited to 3D fighting.

Other than that, Ill be happy with the usual stuff, more stages, more pit fatalities (maybe even more than one per stage depending on character location), more fatalities and other finishing moves, improved graphics, etc

I like the MK and MKII secrets. Unplayable, super hidden bosses and/or unplayable secret characters

I actually hope that we get another Shaolin Monks type of action / adventure game next.

It doesn't necessarily have to revolve around Trilogy characters, but if it did, then perhaps the next game (MK11 or whatever it'll be called) could continue to move the story along with the new characters.

Other than the last comment, I'll take this as semi-facts due to the leak for MK10 (which became X) being factual with changes such as Tanya and Rain being npcs rather than main roster characters. However, I hope everything except the 1st, 2nd, 5th, & 9th bullets are false. MKX was short and it under delivered in comparison to MK9 (which was long and had a better story beside the Massacre). They don't need 10hrs of fighting. If they're gonna have a beat-em-up section, they need to pull a Ground Zeroes and make it standalone. Shao Kahn and Shang Tsung should not return until MK12 or 13. Them defending the Elder gods? Over Johnny Cage who has the power to face Elder gods? And supposedly Cassie based on MKX? Over Subzero who defeated gods? Over Fujin who is a god? No...just no. Plus Raiden should be more like an Anti-Hero as he was in Deception and Armageddon. Having him as the main villain is just...no.

Main villain should be Onaga.

Raiden, Kitana, and Liu Kang should be major antaginists though.

if SM2 gets made then it's definitely going to be a sub/scorpion game. maybe continuation from mkx since they're allied now, makes perfect sense.

I guess.
It just feels like their joined story / feud is over with as of MKX, which I'm 100% fine with, but it felt like that could have also been the premise of a SM styled game.
Scorp and Sub bury the hatchet via a common enemy (Quan Chi) and go hunting him down.

After MKX, though, I don't see what other common enemy they'd have to join forces for again, though.

the zombie overlords (liu kang and his skank), rebellious raiden, dragon king, mokap...they seem like a good enough reason to tag team.

Sure, but why not just save that for the MK11 story mode, then?
I'd rather leave that type of stuff as story stuff for the new characters.

Now, I'm not saying it's a bad idea.
Yeah, it'll work and it sounds good, but then what will be done for MK11?
Would that Shoalin Monks type of game with zombie overlords (liu kang and his skank), rebellious raiden, dragon king, mokap, etc, mean that people would HAVE to play that before the next game (MK11) comes out, just to understand the MK11 story?

I was thinking more along the lines of a smaller side-story, perhaps even non-cannon, a bit like how the stuff in Shaolin Monks was taking place around the MKII timeline but it wasn't really cannon, per se.
I'm not saying it has to take place anywhere near the Trilogy arc, but maybe parallel to what was going on.
For example, some of the filler stuff that we didn't see in MKX detailing some of those events, and perhaps stuff that wasn't covered in the MKX comics either.

Since when were "skanks" ever monogamous? If anyone is a skank, it's her Tarkatan-spliced clone.

The b!tch is 10,000 years old and dresses like a cheap whore. You probably fantasize she's a virgin too, completely innocent.
(here come the fanfics...)

Number one an SM2 game will be MK11, if it gets made next.
Number two what happens next is up to the writers. New stories can be told after the MKX shtick is done for good with SM2.

I'd be down for a parallel-story type of game, behind the scenes or a prologue to MKX. Sounds good.

It would be good to move from three variations to only two, rather than going Injustice 2 route with gear-based extra specials (since all of those extras got banned in competitive play and that was the end of it).

I'd honestly be fine with having NO variations in future games if characters weren't constantly nerfed to hell by NRS.
*cough*Aquaman*cough*
*cough*Triborg*cough*

I have one major hope for MK11: OFFLINE ONLY TROPHIES!
Can I please have an alternative for earning trophies without needing to go online? I don't want to have to fight a match with a dev online in order to get a trophy or play a king of the hill match.

I think any unlockable content should be obtainable offline. Not everybody is interested or able to play online. I didn't like having to be forced to play the mobile game just to unlock the stuff for the main game.

First of all I hope the following characters never return: Chameleon, Nitara, Mokap, Dairou, Darrius, Hotaru and Shujinko.

Never cared for them and I think the game is better off without them. I also do think the MK universe can do without Order and Chaos realm, there is still Havik though, but he is from outworld, from the Chaos part probably, but chaos doesn't need his own world if you have the chaotic outworld. Order-realm nobody ever cared that much about, so I think they should cut it and never mention it, together with Hotaru, while a cool character I can't see anything interesting with him happening at anytime.

The following characters would only appear in NPC status to die or to support other characters, or to be some fun little joke or gimmick somewhere in the game:

- Khameleon (Die, to give Reptile some purpose and storyline)

- Motaro (or another powerful centaur, being killed by Sheeva, to make her appear powerful, as she should be.)

- Meat (Not really a single being, Meat-Puppets are Drahmin's tortured minions, he likes to flay and torture his prey and turn them into mindless Reeks (yes, Game of Thrones pun intended)

- Bo Rai Cho (I'm really angry we are stuck with such a bad teacher for Liu and Kung... But we're stuck on him so he needs to be around, as long as he doesn't puke, fart of do anything other comical, I don't mind him being a NPC though.

- Li Mei (BO Rai Cho's ho, his bodyguard and friend, always found together with him, but not wasting a precious spot in the roster, LIKE EVAH.)

- Hsu Hoa (Cannon Fodder, like always)

- Blaze (Could have replaced the Fire God at one point, in the story I hope he gets killed and absorbed by (still) evil Liu Kang, so his fire powers become very powerful.

- Moloch (Being killed, his weapon should be given to Drahmin, as I hope drahmin plays the same as Injustice 2 Scarecrow.)

- Ashrah (Killed by Sareena, Wraith (noob) or Drahmin)

- Kira (Being killed in a flashback, to see how Skarlet was created from her body, maybe Kano gave her as a present to Quan Chi to prove his loyalty.)

- Taven (Dunno yet, for now on the bench of NPC's until I know what to do with him. He's kinda hot but bland, should get some new powers and looks.)

- Daegon (Killed by Takeda and Kenshi, replaced by Mavado who is now the leader of the Red Dragon assassins.)

- Cassie Cage, Jacqui briggs, Kung Jin (Cassie and Jacqui could appear in the game as background characters, still working for SF, but I hope they die as NPC's. Not gonna happen but still a wish. Kung Jin I hope he dies and is replaced with a much more interesting Kai who uses his bow weapon to honor him.

Small chance that the last three of that list actually skip MK11, but one can dream right? I'm to biased to those characters, I can't like them and I hate them too much to put them in my MK11 list.

Which characters I do like and which are in the game at some point?

First the characters I do like but which can skip MK11 for multiple reasons: Kintaro, Shao Kahn, Shinnok, Goro, Baraka, Quan Chi.

So that leaves a list of characters I do wish to see in MK11, of course these are too much characters, but I don't care if not all make it in the game of course, but I would love to see most of them at least.

- Liu Kang, either make him die in this game for (almost) good, or turn him good again.

- Johnny Cage, I like him as main hero, but he should drop the entire teen titans and the Special Forces role, I like his god-heritage and I like him to focus on his MKX ending of edenian youth, I think Edenia should be the middle-point of attention in MKII.

- Sonya Blade, with new abilities, ya'll know X-men villian Unuscione? I wish Sonya could have that living forcefield thing as a gadget, makes her much more interesting, everybody I spoke to loves the poewrs of Unuscione. It could be a cool variation of Sonya.

- Raiden, of course Dark Raiden, while i'm not a fan of Dark Raiden, it would be a good intro for the much cooler Fujin to enter the fray.

- Scorpion, as a goodguy, otherwise you can't have MK without the (annoying) poster-boy.

- Sub-Zero, allied with Scorpion, otherwise see Scorpion.

- Jax, as leader of the Special Forces, focusing his entire team on saving the other revenants I guess, or something new, I don't want the Special forces to have a huge role in 11, they ruined MKX. I do wish the special forces become somewhat more HIGH TECH and more Science-Fiction focused. Less militairy.

- Kung Lao, being helped to become normal again by Kai (or Kung Jin, yuck), though of all characters, i'm not gonna cry over Kung Lao, Jax and Sonya Blade skipping a game.

- Kitana, as the dark queen, but in the end she, like the other revenants, is turned back into her normal self, Kitana struggles the most with being good again, for a cool twist.

- Jade, one of the most important characters in MK11, as the mysterious woman took her body and turned it into a martyr for her old planet Edenia, Jade's possessor is a killed Flora/Plant Goddess of Edenia which used Jade's dead body to regain flesh again. Now in one of Jade's variations she can control plant matter and life, don't worry in her other variation she can still use her old moves (which I find kinda dull though) In this game you would also see some of the interesting back-story from Edenia, of how Jade's father was one of the most powerful guardsmen in Jerrod's army and how he worked for Shao Kahn only to begin the Edenian resistance and died later.

- Nightwolf, like the other revenants he is freed, but earlier in the story, he can't handle his transformation though and some evil wendigo-spirit takes possession of the weakened body of Nightwolf, cursing him into a monsterous half man and half beast form in one of his variations.

- Stryker, he is much like Deadshot in MK11, give him extreme aim with guns to make him stand out of the crowd. He became a specialist in the special forces and one of the best men they have, he is second in rank after Jax. His looks are really changed, resembling Deadshot in many ways but still being very different, of course he also has his old moves and looks in another variation. He is the first revenant that is changed back to normal in the begin of MK11 storymode.

- Fujin, kinda replaces Raiden, very cliche, but still very much needed. Gives up his godhood maybe to make things interesting? Keeping his wind powers of course.

- Kai, I really wished they would have used Kai instead of Kung Jin... Well anyway, Kai is the newest bad-ass of the Shaolin Monks and in my perfect MK story Kung Jin would die, and Kai would take his bow weapon. Like Liu Kang turns into a bad-ass dragon, Kai turns into a white tiger, or summons a spirit of a tiger, or has a big white tiger familiar/pet. His mission is to reclaim Kung Lao and Liu Kang, turn them normal again.

- Kenshi, still special forces, loses his telekinesis power, but his spirit power becomes more powerful, and so his telepathy. Has some storyline with the Red Dragon and Shang Tsung which is ressurected.

- Sareena, f*** Nitara, Sareena can take both roles. She is a Succubus, redeemed by Sub-Zero or Ashrah's sword, don't care really, she still struggles with her inner demon that she uses in one of her two variations. This variation looks like a more feral form of Nitara, a winged female demon, but very ugly and not pretty at all, in her humanoid form she is pretty like before of course. With Quan Chi dead, Sareena has trouble of keeping her given human form as Quan Chi's magic kept it in check. In her demonic succubus form she can invade the dreams/nightmares of her victims, appearing as a very stunning woman and kill/corrupt them from within their dreams, who needs Freddy Kruger anyway?

- Takeda, don't care what role he has, something with scorpion I guess or Special Forces, but his whips are gone to Mavado and he has a new weapon, probably a sword or ninja stars or whatever.

- Smoke, even after being freed of being a revenant, Smoke stays evil as his inner demonic enenra has taken control of his body. I'm not sure about his storyline, but I like him to team up with Wraith (Noob) again. Absolutely not as robot though.

- Sheeva, Queen of the shokans, I like it. Give her some interesting story arc for a change.

- Havik, I know he's dead in the comic, but how can you kill a chaotic being? Maybe he should be the end-boss or maybe the sub-boss, I do hope he is playable either way. I don't know his story, but he should be in.

- Erron Black, with some cool ass story for a change, not being some mindless greedy mercenary all the time.

- Reptile, also with a cool story this time around, maybe his homeworld of Zaterra is back and he can control and tame the big dinosaur-like reptiles that live there, making him invalible to Kotal Kahn.

- Kano, maybe not playable, but the Black Dragon should be there to cause some form of trouble.

- Shang Tsung, feeding on Ermac's souls has ressurected him to full health and more powerful than ever, candidate for sub-boss or end-boss material right here.

- Wraith (Noob Saibot), he is back and more powerful than ever. I want to see the entire back-story of him, not of sub-zero but of the symbiont alien Wraith actually is. I like to think of Wraith as a cool black tar-like alien lifeform that is used by Quan Chi to corrupt Sub-Zero's corpse and merge with it to become a new powerful horror. Without master Wraith has its own dark agenda in this game, something very alien and evil. In one of his variations he is actually looking like his original tar-form, fighting much like Glacius from Killer Instinct. Yes Bi-Han fans, I like Noob to be someone VERY different, f*** old sub-zero, his dead body is just a tool for a bizarre alien parasite in my wish.

- Mileena, all those clones in her ending are actually true, and everytime she is killed a more powerful Mileena appears from the flesh pits.

- Baraka/New Tarkatan, one that does have an interesting back-story and which isn't only a lacky without opinion of his own.

- Sektor and Cyrax, I really ignore the death of him, I just want them back one way or another, of all characters that died Sektor is the hardest to bring back, at least Cyrax only died in the comics, which can be ignored easily. I think the Cyborg Hydro should be introduced, he can re-create their bodies with the help of Kano/Kabal/Smith-guy from Kabal's MK11 ending.

- Kabal, give him most of the Flash's abilities, focus on his speed. After being revived to normal he becomes a black dragon member again, I hate good-natured Kabal, he looks too cool for being a goodguy. (which are mostly boring)

- Sindel, like Kabal Sindel won't return to the good-side, in my ideal Mortal Kombat sindel is the only one who remains a Revenant forever, her goal will be to have Kitana (who is freed from being a revenant) to join her again. Somebody with hair and voice powers must be evil to be cool.

- Ermac, make him weaker as Shang Tsung drained most of his souls away, and maybe only the soul of King Jerrod remains inside Ermac, giving him a cool new story.

- Rain, finally do something awesome with this awesome character. If Rain isn't playable AGAIN I will curse Ed Troll Boon. Of course with a story that is mainly about Edenia, Rain has an important role, also in Tanya's and Jade's flash-back storyline. He's the one that killed Jade's father Malachor (from the gemstone Malachite lol) in the edenian resistance.

- Reiko, I really want him to return and better than ever. I always liked the though of Reiko being the son of Sindel (hair) and Shao Kahn, unwanted by Sindel she gave him up to a friend in the armies of Shao Kahn before she killed herself. In MK11 Reiko can learn about his true heritage, and use it against Kotal.

- Tanya, give her illusion-based powers already! I always wished she worked for Quan Chi and used her illusion powers to fool Scorpion into believing Sub-Zero killed his family. I know this can't be, but at least do something very cool with Tanya and in flashbacks explain her past in Edenia and why she turned evil.

- Mavado, I want the Red Dragon clan to become an outworld-thing, and Mavado an outworlder. Give him Takeda's whip-like weapons (as those weapons do not suit a good-guy) and a cool new crime-boss look. After Daegon (NPC) is killed by Kenshi or Takeda, Mavado takes over the Red Dragon. His looks are VERY different from past appearances, he has black + red hair, the red hair being dried blood of his victims made into paint, he has this cool dragon tattoos on his body and cool red/black tatoos on his face. He still wears the dracula-like cloak and now uses Takeda-like weapons but even more cruel looking ones like in this picture: https://68.media.tumblr.com/d4886ead5cda5199a418499834a27684/tumblr_nxt6mvJEE41r2uivpo7_r1_1280.jpg

- Frost, dunno what she does in MK11, just be there please! And be evil, we already have a boring good-natured ice-user in Sub-Zero.

- Drahmin, with some interesting back-ground story to boot, also a very cool new look that actually gives people the shivers. Torture is his speciality and most of his fatalities. I like him to have fear-based powers like Scarecrow, but without the gas. He uses both Scarecrows/Zombie Liu Kang's hook weapon and Moloch's Ball N Chain weapons in his variations. He can smell what a persons worst fears are and use them against them, his touch is very painful and amplifies pain to a new level. He scratched his own skin off and likes to create meat-puppets (looking like meat) from his victims that he tortures into obedience. When in battle I hope he crawls around on his legs and arms like some wild beast.

- Kobra, yeah, yeah, I know what you are thinking, but I hope they totally re-make him into Kano's adopted son, I like Kano's ending and I want Kobra to be that guy. (not a real son, as that is something I hate, the family drama) Kobra must loose the Ken-look entirely having this shaved head and very nasty, cruel and aggressive attitude, even Kano is afraid of him. One day Kobra will lead the black dragon. While he mostly uses brute strength, he also loves seeing people die slowly from poison and venom, hench his name.

- Skarlet, with a back-ground story that she was once Kira, turned into this new form by Quan Chi as present for Shao Kahn (actually Shinnok, but that never came to be)

- D'Vorah, I love to see her return with new bug abilities and story ark.

- Kotal Kahn, can't have MK11 without him!

- Ferra & Torr, or maybe their ending is true and it will be Small-boy + Ferra, they must loose their slave-role though and gain their own interesting back-ground story and chapter in this game.

- Tremor, give him a cool back-ground story, as how he was the Earth Gods son from a human wife, and how he didn't want the titel of Earth God after his dad was destroyed by Shinnok. He instead became a criminal and joined the Black Dragon, playing a lackey, but actually planning something much bigger, beyond earth and beyond the Black Dragon, maybe he serves (or is controlled) by Jade/Plant Goddess that controlls Jade's body, both could have links to the dream-world.

- Hydro, being turned into a Cyborg at one point, he is one of the last surviving cyborgs, he re-creates Sektor and Cyrax bodies with new properties, buying Kabal and Kano's help with money and promises. He is a very cool blue cyborg with water-based abilities and 6 docter-octopus tentacles growing out of his mechanical back which he can pull back at any time, he's much like some cool octopus-cyborg hybrid, given his power over water he had before. Rain is more of a Weather-character in my book, Hydro has more different water abilities. In his pre-story Hydro was the son of the Water God.

- Smith-Guy from Kaba's MK11 ending, dunno about his name yet, maybe he's called The Mechanist or something like that, but he must be a cool new character that is EXTREMELY smart and which uses advanced technology in his weaponry, having the exoskeleton of a steel robot, much like Lex Luthor has in Injustice 1, but more freaky and Terminator-like. The weak-guy within a big robotic shell. He could even be a sub-boss fight.

so basically judging by the characters you DO want to see in the game you pretty much just want another MK Trilogy with like a couple extra characters??? A BIG NO!! Like if you don't want Quan Chi to return then why do you want Mileena to return? they're both dead. we don't need like 90% of the trilogy roster in every mk game.

This is what I'm mostly hoping for.
It's been a long time since we had a decent playable Fujin.
Hopefully with what seems like Dark / bat-shit cray-cray Raiden, Fujin will be the more level-headed EarthRealm protector in the next game.

Possessed Jade is just as lame as possessed Reptile in MK:D. You also have the Zombies who are already technically possessed so that basically makes the game Possessed Kombat.

Aside from the 9 or 10 characters that seem to be considered "must-have" by the fanbase (which I'll still debate), I'd rather MK11 not be full of MK1 and MKII repeats.
I'm hoping that Cassie replaces Johnny and Sonya for a game or 2, and the same goes for Jacqui and Jax.
I'm not saying that they should be dead in MK11, but just let them sit out for 1 or 2 games so that these newer characters can shine for a bit.
MKX was partially about passing the torch from some of the Trilogy / MK9 characters to the new generation, so I'd like to see some of that reflected in the next game.
Even Kano go a "what if" ending with his son taking up the mantle (I'm not saying that I want that in particular, but just sayin').
We got 8 brand new characters in MKX, and even after reading the comics I still feel like I barely even know some of them, like Ferra / Torr and Erron Black.
