Characters' different body shapes...

Ah, I see what you mean. But no, the cartoony female characters you presented aren't realistic looking, unless you make them monstrous somehow, then yeah, it could be neat to see.

Unfortunately, examples in the fighting games world are hard to come by. Still, it's hard to ignore the fact there are fewer variations in physiques in women than there are men. I mean, with Ferra being the exception, it looks like the female characters were built from the same base model.



I'm not saying that NRS should copy what's presented, but they could definitely do more to define their characters.

This made me really curious, so I took some comparison screenshots from last week's stream and matched Kitana in using the UI. Here are the results:





Animations and postures make it difficult to be sure, but I'm quite certain that Cassie is larger than D'Vorah and Kitana, and I'm also quite certain that Kitana's body is different because her waistline is noticeably higher than the other girls'.

So I think they might have distinct body types already. There's just no Ermac equivalent who is just obviously, glaringly completely unique.

I actually had the idea that D'Vorah was indeed a little smaller than Cassie, but I wasn't sure. Good to find out it's probably true. Still Cassie is quite small compared to males. I really wish we could have a female at least as tall as Reptile in this game, but... highly doubt it.

Still, this is a MAJOR - M-A-J-O-R - improvement over Armageddon and 2011 models for sure!!!

If you advocate for NRS to do things their way, then why are you against the direction they currently wish to go in? I don't see this as pandering to SJW, because the costumes are still sexy. They're just not as ridiculous. This is where NRS wants to take things and if you don't like it, then you're barking at the wrong people.

I concede they are different, but I was hoping for greater contrast than what they have so far....different hip-to-waist ratio, shoulder, thicker limbs, etc. It's still a narrow spectrum compared to the males.

I wasn't trying to argue a point, you genuinely made me curious and I didn't know what I would discover once I looked at the images. First of all, I have to say NRS deserves props for taking the time to make the characters subtly different... like so subtly, that most people didn't even notice. That's a brand new level of care for them.

Would it be cool to see a wider range of differences? For sure. But I think what we have now makes sense considering the disparity in the ratio between male to female fighters. Unless I'm much mistaken, we've got 11 male characters (including Torr), and 4 females (including Ferra). That's 1:3. How many males look vastly different in terms of body shape? Kano, Kotal, Goro, Torr, Ermac, Quan Chi. How many females look vastly different? Ferra. That's 1:6 so far. Slightly disappointing, but still totally in the range of normalcy, I think.

The fact that Sheeva is very unlikely to make the cut this time around, and there are no other known female characters with eccentric proportions, does make it unlikely that the ratio will stay in that range. But, eh, maybe it just wasn't meant to be this time.

We only have 4 females so far, so we don't really have much to go off. From what I can tell, they all have noticeable differences in their body types/shapes, obviously not to the extreme e.g. Sheeva, but we still have plenty of room in the roster for more diversity.

You're right, most women in real life do have giant boobs covered by tiny pieces of fabric, with angular jaw structures and very long necks.
