I think beyond MK4, Midway team was trying to develop several secondary characters to create a richier story and to put more variation in the arcade.
Characters like Hotaru/Darrius/Dariou, Ashrah/Nitara, Kia/Kobra, Mavado/HsuHao were intended to make secondary plots, and somehow they would connect into the main theme of the games (MK
A, MK and MK:A).She was there not only to oppose Nitara indirectly, but Ermac too.
It was told that her sword would purify her soul if she killed demons, but that was an excuse to promote vampire killing.

Its more satisfying winning with characters that are balanced, and even more satisfying winning with low tiers. Winning with Kabal is mostly expected

Meh, I don't mind playing top tier.
I wouldn't feel any different winning with Kabal or winning with Sheeva, because at the end of the day it all comes down to who has the most match up experience and character knowledge.
Tbh, tiers are irrelevant when it comes to online play, because match ups are based on a FT10 offline with character specialists.

It isn't like Kabal is an easy character to use. He has some of the highest execution in the game.
If your NDC's aren't on point you're eating max damage combos all day. And no point even trying to zone someone out when all of your iaGB's are being fired at the top of the screen.
That said, Kabal isn't coming back. He's dead and irrelevant to the story.

I think Kabal is a little too strong in MK9, even though he does have a decent level of execution. He still runs a lot of tournaments. but it's okay to have a really strong character if their execution is also high. What's not okay is when a character is really simple to use and also strong with easy execution. Like Supes

I dont think execution difficulty makes it ok for a character to be overpowered in my opinion. Execution becomes very easy once you get used to it. I struggled heavily with most Instant air projectiles, but now I can execute it with ease.
I think it was CDJr who called him OP too, he said he only used Kabal as a main for 3 weeks and he managed to get second place at one of the evo tournaments. I didnt watch it, so correct me if I am wrong

Guys i still don't think we're going to get 14 or even 12 new characters..I hope they reveal a new one and a classic at the next event but I'm the long run I bet we only see 9 or 10 fresh faces .I don't see them ditching reptile,Kitana,cyrax secktor or Kabal at all...as much as I'd love for them to keep him out of it.

There IS more then ten. They said this game would have the most new characters.
I think Deadly Alliance had 11 or something like that. So it's pretty much been confirmed that the roster will contain AT LEAST 12 new characters.

I hope so I really do.I just don't think they will do it even though they have said it.I remember the tons of DLC that MK9 never got lol.Maybe that situation is different though.

Agreed,i don't think it will be more than 8.But if they actually pull off that many and they are as unique and different as Dvorah,Ferra-Torr and Kotal Kahn,i will be overwhelmed at how creative they can be at this point in the series.

As pointed out above, Ed Boon himself said it will have the largest number of new characters ever, so that is at least 10. He also said that MK9 was fan-service and now he's ready to do new stuff so he is aware of the fact that he will piss off many fans for ignoring a lot of old characters but that's the way it is. And I'm sure when the game is released there will still be many posts about this, "why are there so few old characters?" and stuff...

Deadly Alliance had the biggest number of new characters, to date, which was 11.
If MKX NOW has the biggest number of new characters, then it's 12 or more.

Yea you see my point.I Really want some fresh and unique characters but I don't trust these guys that's all.
I know, I just wanted to be cautious.
I agree that we will have 12 new characters. And in my opinion that number is likely to include more descendants, cyborgs and Edenian female ninjas that will resemble some old characters but they will still be new.
