Need Computer help with FBI Virus

I was looking up some stuff and then this FBI thing says pay 300 dollars or we'll arrest you . I quickly unplugged my computer and got back on. Everything was back to normal so I looked up on this and found out its an FBI Moneypak scam. I went though all procedures and couldn't find a trace of antivirus, went to tech support, denied help from text support because of costs and rebooted my system to an earlier time. I saw a video where a guy did the same thing but i'm still pretty unsure on the whole thing.

I'm not sure. Probably not or my mom's credit information and all mine are going to some other guy. I was just looking for assurance since the screen never came back up I couldn't make heads or tails

Well follow the instructions of the video, if you don't see the files mentioned then maybe the virus didn't take root.
Moneypak scams don't steal your info, they just lock your computer and hope you're stupid enough to be scared by their fake child porn/copyright accusations and pay them money.

I wonder if the virus goes away if you pay it.

Thanks for clearing things up. I was worried. Though it had my location and computer ID already. Might just work similar to ads on the internet by pinpointing your location

There's some really sophisticated ones. I saw a virus where it took control of your webcam (If you're using a laptop), snap a picture and then say it was sending it to the FBI to report you for shit if you didn't pay up.

God damn Nigerians

I once got nasty malware that blocked access to my internet and anti-virus program. I had to start my computer in safe mode, download a new anti-malware program ,and run it.

Deleting the registry keys as instructed in the video should also help in cleaning it up.

Considering how unscrupulous their creators are, I doubt it. What's worse, you will lose your money and divulge personal information.

Yeah I got the same thing a while back, despite the NSA says they have the ability to collect all your information and they are. It's still against the law to look at the stuff w/o a warrant. (lol not sure if they are even following that one.)

So I instantly knew it was BS, Paying the money will not help you. The program will probably pretend to leave, while still being rooted, and since they now know you were sucker enough to pay. The program will probably resurface like a few months later, in an attempt to get you to pay again.

What a nasty virus this Randomware is. Forcing you to go into the registry and deleting files. But sad for the naive and gullible people who actually believe this is genuine, making them "pay" for giving up their personal information.
