The show is just now opening, and thanks to Jeff Gerstmann of GiantBomb we have a bit more info on how Injustice: Gods Among Us works and plays. Their first appointment of E3 was to check out the game, and after done they unveiled that you hold back to block in Injustice.

Checked out Inustice. Surprised by how different from MK it feels. It's back to block! Seems pretty interesting. Need For Speed next.
— Jeff Gerstmann (@jeffgerstmann) June 5, 2012

Also just as they finished that, I hit the Injustice portion of their Pre-E3 GiantBombcast. At around the 1 hour 33 minute mark, Jeff reveals the game has three main attack buttons and one "environmental" attack button. He also reveals how each character has their own uniquely behaving super meter, so this should add an interesting depth to the game. Jeff had gotten to play the game during E3 Judges Week briefly but got more time on it today at E3. I'm sure we'll hear more from about the game as the week goes on.

We also know that Injustice: Gods Among Us is NOT on the show floor. Instead there is a theatre demonstrations going on all day with the NetherRealm staff doing live walkthroughs of the game. Our contributing editor Scott is currently in line for the theatre, here are his initial thoughts.

Just got out from seeing Injustice. Any reservations you may have of this not being good or MK vs DC 2 have been shattered. New experience!
— Scott Ellison II (@Hawk_SE) June 5, 2012

Come back later today, as we should have more Injustice: Gods Among Us info as the day goes on. Also be sure to follow Scott Ellison on Twitter for updates as the day goes on.

Press back to block?
Oh no.
I don't know how I feel about that.
I'll reserve judgement for when I actually play the Injustice game, but I never really liked the whole SF back button blocking.

I agree with this.

You hold back to block in Tekken but the characters don't jump unbelievably high in the air like in Street Fighter, making me have to keep tab on what direction I'm holding the controller stick in. I love that MK9 had a block button.

you hold back to block in Injustice

Damn, didn't see that coming. That's going to change a lot in how the game plays.

It seems kind of bizarre that they'd want to trade out one of the most basic yet unique features of the MK engine for something more traditional and arguably limiting. Does that mean they're going to have charge moves too? I don't really see the point otherwise.

Fortunately for me, I was a SF2 fan before I was a MK fan, so I can block by holding back or pressing a button. Personally, I'm glad they went this route.

Holding Back is better IMO, it adds to the guessing game. Cross ups aren't that bad either.. Once you learn which Jump in kick or Jump in Punch crosses up you're all good.

Good about the blocking, you actually have to think about where you're blocking. Blocking cross ups isn't hard at all and if it had a block button like MK I think it would feel too similar to MK.
