Last week we noticed that Warner Bros. <a href="http://domainnamewire.com/2012/05/24/warner-bros-buys-injustice-com-for-7500-a-new-online-game/">bought the Injustice.com domain last week</a>, but it wasn't clear what the domain was for. Then yesterday <a href="http://kotaku.com/5914087/quantic-dreams-infraworld-xbox-music-and-more-assorted-scoopery-vol-1">Internet sleuth, superannuation, assumed it was an unannounced Turbine game</a>. But since we were interested in the possible <a href="http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Injustice_League">Injustice League</a> tie-in, we started to keep an eye on the website because it could be any new WB project.

This morning, <a href="http://www.injustice.com">Injustice.com</a> came online and is showing a surprise teaser for <a href="http://www.netherrealm.com">NetherRealm Studios</a>' next fighting game, based in the <b>DC Universe</b>, <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/injustice/">Injustice: Gods Among Us</a>. This is to be NetherRealm's second fighting game to feature DC Universe characters since the Mortal Kombat crossover <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_vs_dc_universe/">Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe</a>, produced when the studio was still <b>Midway Games.</b> Unlike <a href="http://www.trmk.org/games/mortal_kombat_9/">Mortal Kombat (2011)</a>, it looks like <b>Injustice</b> will also be available on the new <b>Nintendo Wii U</b>, in addition to the <b>PlayStation 3</b> and <b>Xbox 360</b>. Currently, the release date has been broadly set to sometime next year, <b>2013</b>.

<b>Update 9:08AM</b>: Looks like <a href="http://www.gamespot.com/injustice-gods-among-us/videos/injustice-gods-among-us-announcement-trailer-6379451/?tag=Topslot;InjusticeGodsAmongUs;TrailerFirstLookAtT">Gamespot has an exclusive Announcement Trailer</a> for the game up. You can see it below:

<center><iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/M2D2i7MKNrw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></center>

The <a href="http://injustice.com">Injustice website</a> is currently live with a few renders of <b>Batman</b>, <b>Superman</b>, <b>Wonder Woman</b>, <b>The Flash</b>, <b>Harley Quinn</b> and <b>Solomon Grundy</b>. The website also has Social Media links so that you can follow updates from the game creators directly from the source on both <a href="http://twitter.com/InjusticeGame">Twitter @InjusticeGame</a> and <a href="http://facebook.com/InjusticeGame">Injustice on Facebook</a>.

It's not entirely surprising to see another non-Mortal Kombat game from the studio. Since the release of <b>Arkham City Lockdown</b> earlier this year NetherRealm's Creative Director <b>Ed Boon</b> <a href="http://shoryuken.com/2011/12/15/netherrealm-not-taking-a-break-from-mortal-kombat-after-all/">has openly said that non-MK games are being developed along side future MK games</a> at the studio. When will see another <b>Mortal Kombat</b> game? That's yet to be seen, just <a href="http://twitter.com/noobde/status/207313248003964928">Ed recently commented that Mortal Kombat 9 just came out last year</a>. What we do know is that we're extremely excited to see another fighting game from <b>NetherRealm Studios</b> next year in 2013.

The game will likely be at <a href="http://e3expo.com">E3</a> next week and <a href="http://www.trmk.org/news/27484/announcing_trmks_e3_2012_show_floor_coverage.html">we have sent Scott to cover the show for us</a>. He will be working on bringing you news and thoughts directly from the <b>E3 show floor</b> and also the big 3's media briefings all next week. So be sure to follow us at <a href="http://www.twitter.com/trmk/">@TRMK on Twitter</a> and like our <a href="http://www.facebook.com/trmk.org">Facebook page.</a> For non-specific E3 news next week also follow <a href="http://twitter.com/hawk_se">Scott at @Hawk_SE on Twitter</a>.

<b>Update 9:40AM</b>: Now Gamespot has an interview up with Ed Boon about Injustice that goes into detail on the arenas and how they matter to the game. Also how DC Comics let them re-envision the character models a bit with their own twists.

<b>Update 10am</b>: We now have the full Press Release which you can read in it's entirety below:

But yea, Looks interesting and because NRS is making it I'll give it a try.

Please for the love of glob, jebus and space ghost let nightwing be in it. Day one buy on batman alone. :) I take it It's not going to be a massively competitive game do to it being a 3d plane?

I hope it uses the same button set up as MK so I have another fighter to use my fightstick with!

This is awesome news! Eventhough I was waiting for some Mk10 news, I am happy with this. I hope this game plays alot better than MK Vs DC and I wonder how they will balance out the characters in the DC universe. Can't wait!:)

This could show just how good and versatile NRS's creative team is I'm looking forward to Nightwing taking out Batman. ;) yeah that's right I said it.

OMGGGGGGGGGG Green lantern.

/dying my body isn't ready lol

This looks pretty awesome.
I'm SO glad to see that it's not MKvsDc 2.
Looks like I'm gonna be broke in 2013.

Get hype!!!!!
I can't wait to see how NRS pull this off. It looks quite dark and gritty, I really think thats a good thing. It was also a pretty good idea because they could re-use some of the animations from MKvsDCU (like they did with NPCs in the challenge tower in Mk9). I really want this!

Looks like heroes and villains may switch roles in this game, brilliant concept. From the trailer it seems that the fighting will be on a 2.5D plane with cutscene like animations while executing super moves, similar to SF and MVC.

Glad they kept mk out of this one and it looks dark! Can't wait to see how it actually plays and what the story is. I like the costumes too and it's about time someone updated superman lol

Can anyone tell for sure if it is going to be 3D, 2.5D or 2D with just with 3D animation for some moves? I am hoping for the later.

Oh and correct me if I am wrong but even tho Lex isn't announced isn't that him that is facing off with Superman in the trailer before it goes to the game play? And for that matter they maybe another character in their too. You have Wonder Woman vs. Harley Quinn, Batman vs. Grundy, Superman vs. possibly Lex and The Flash vs. someone with ice. There is a number of ice villains in DC but my money would be on Freeze.

^^ in the interview it seems to be 2d but you can use things in the stage that are in the background or foreground. I'm mad they're not making another mk game but at least they're making a fighter. God I hope it's tournament worthy. I think it will be. Cheers to MK10 coming out in 2015.

God I hope it's tournament worthy. I think it will be.

I don't see how after the tournament success of Mortal Kombat 9 they wouldn't want to make this game also well balanced and tournament worthy. This is just the tip of the iceberg I have a feeling.

Batman Wins Evo and stopped the joker only a few moments later. lol

I hope it is tourny worthy. I want Superman and Darkseid not to be Op and have every superpower under the yellow sun. If they use the Mk fighting system as the core system for this game like Patman said it should be. :)

I will be refreshing this site all weekend for some game play! Considering they had MK9 to play at e3 a year before it came out my money is on it being playable.

I for one will be buying this day one! I don't even like super heros. I know bat man because of Christopher Nolan and I know the Flash because of the Queen song. That's the extent of my super hero knowledge. But I love how MK9 plays and I assume they're using the same engine with many tweaks. So I look forward to learning about all these heros and villains.
