But the ga variant of the 'N word' has nothing to do with being a terrible person. I've said it before, its a term of endearment. Nobody says it to offend, because it isn't an offensive word. All races use it and no race can claim it because its used so universally now.

I just cannot understand your logic for blocking it.
    The N word.

    MY word

I don't really think you get it.....

As I explained to you before, I am not personally offended by it, I get the reference, but other people are. In general, it is a word that a lot of people don't like because it derives from a racist term. If a word offends even just a few people, that is when the word has to be looked at, discussed, and a decision whether to ban or not has to be made.

On top of that, you guys tossed it around a lot. I can't speak for Pat or anyone else but I am just assuming that if it were said once in a while, you could probably get away with it, but when it's every other word....yeah.

Anyway, I like the 'thanks' feature. It's a nice gesture and almost like rep, which a lot of people wanted to see come back, so here is your filler, lol.

The only issue with it is, just like rep, it could be abused, but it is something that can't really be controlled, unless the feature is taken away, so, hopefully, everyone will do their best to use it correctly and give thanks because a post is actually good and well thought out, not just because that person is their e-friend.

    I do get it.
I get that other people can't comprehend its intent and are afraid of it.

Don't think this is a personal attack btw, i'm just very passionate about the word.

    @Jade - "thanked" for being a e-friend =]

    Spoiler:
for once, I didn't change the forum. I'm the one who ruins things around here. The ****

But seriously, in regards to the "n-word"(), I'm with you(the staff) on this one. It should be censored because it offends a few users. HOWEVER, I don't believe that ANYONE should be getting offended by it...but that's just me.

It's funny because the only person that "should" actually be offended by it, isn't. Before anyone attempts to point out what's wrong with that, don't, I already know, just saying.

Will thanks ever return to the netherrealm?...that's my home

Adding the Thanks feature in the netherealm section would be reduntant imo since nothing useful or helpful is posted in there and people will start thanking each other because they are e-friends.

Also I know Im going to get alot of heat for this, but I personally think the Netherealm secion should be canned. Instead I think its better to change the section to a forum games section, with Just Talk and have just one thread for people who want to post useless crap and dump it all in there.

Anyways this is for another discussion, I just wanted to share my thoughts on it.

Earlier today CL posted something in Just Talk that was about his future goals to become a politician. It was honest, sincere, and inspiring all at once. Every once in a while, someone will post or share something that is actually thought provoking and sometimes asks for a call to action. There is helpful and useful posts there. As the official representative of the netherrealm, believe when I say there is good hidden deep within the shit.

Knowing CL, 99.99% of his posts are useful/helpful/well thought out in the netherealm or otherwise.

But I see what you are saying, but I think it would be much better if we cut back on some drama/sillyness. Don't get me wrong, I love me some of it cause I admit its amusing, but there always need to be a line man, we shouldn't do stuff that makes Pat ashamed.

Wow! I love this feature! I missed the rep system quite a bit and seeing a form of it return is welcome to say the least. Thanks, Pat.

FJ, the NetherRealm is pretty much the place where derpiness belongs. So it should probably stay just so that all the derp can stay contained in there and not find its way into actual serious threads and other sub forums

WHY is c0ck censored, anyway, when dick isn't even censored

Re: You can now Thank people for their posts

The whole idea of the netherrealm was to reserve it for games and random discussion in Just Talk, as well as threads like 'what's your favorite color?' (for example). Basically, threads that would consist of short answers. There were far too many people making useless posts just to up their post count. Having a section where people could do that and be allowed to was an idea I had so it could at least be contained in one area instead of seeing everyone pull an Armageddon and post stupid pony pictures as a response everywhere.

Unfortunately, a lot of people took the section and started making ridiculous threads.....it wasn't meant for that. Post count or not in there, people need to still have a bit of responsibility. Have some fun with games and memes and some random discussion in just talk but no need to make dumb threads.

Ignore any typos, I am on my POS mobile lol.

Then that post should not BE in the NetherRealm we have a General Discussion area that would be great for something like that.

Re: You can now Thank people for their posts

Like repping another user, thanks are just as subjective in nature. Most people use +rep for posts they agree with; I feel thanks are not going to be any different. Thoughtful posts that support an unpopular opinion are less likely to receive thanks, even if the arguments presented are strong while still showing respect to the opposition. The people who used the rep system to as a way of rubbing each others' backs are likely to do the same thing with the thanks system. Thoughtful posts falls to the responsibility of the members here, they need to be willing to be positive members of the community without thinking of an immediate "reward".

Isn't Just Talk for general discussion, as well?

General Discussion is for real discussions. Jade described NetherRealm best:

The limit on Thanking people is now 10 per day. I found that 25 was way too much, now you'll have to ration them a bit. So chose wisely!
