Welcome to the TRMK November XBL online tournament!
Due to the success and fun had with the last one, it was decided that in good spirit that a second tournament would start the next month.
A few adjustments have been made to this tournament to improve upon the last one.
The tournament is Double Elimination. For those unsure as to what that is, it is what it says it is. You have to be eliminated by two players to be kicked out the tournament. Players that lose a match will filter down into the loser brackets, which of course gives them a chance to come back and reach the Grand Final. If you are beaten for a second time, you are then out! The Double Elimination even applies in the Champion Ship match, as the Winner of the W Bracket will of course, need to be beaten twice, to be knocked out.
Every match will be the Best of 5, except for the Championship Match which will be the best of 7. The best of 5 means the first person to win 3 games in their match, and the best of 7 will be the first person to win 4 games in their match.
Again, anything in the tournament goes. Fatalities, zoning, babalities....use whatever methods you can (bar rage quitting halfway through) to win. Codes allowed and encouraged to be used are the 900 code and the 001 code. Both reduce online lag somewhat so it really is an idea to use them. 900 supposedly removes the most lag, but also the opportunity to peform a fatality/babality. 001 also reduces the lag and is probably the better code to use, if you guys get the Subway or City stages. At the very least, compromise on what codes to use. If two of you use 900 for the game of your match, then fine, but honour the other guy if he wants to use 001 in the following game.
This tournament will be running in a MUCH shorter time frame than the last tournament, and this one is running from the 7th Nov till the 13th Nov. Just one week. So for those that dont get eliminated early, you will be required to play most nights. At most, you will be playing 1 or 2 people a night, so all I ask is that you put aside 30 minutes an evening at most.
As you can see there are some new faces. Some of these people are NOT members here, and are friends of other members. It would be better to contact your opponent through XBL than here. One particularly good suggestion would be for someone to make a 0SaltyWounds room each night in the lobby. Members can then go in to find their opponent, or have some warm ups while they wait. If anyone has a problem with playing on a certain night, they need to inform me in advance. There will be zero tollerance with no shows. If you guys arrange your game with your opponent and they dont respond to your message or dont show at whatever time you arrange, that will be put down as One Elimination and the other person will get a Bye (free pass). The whole roster is available to use, including DLC characters. A new rule implemented is any character you win with, you have to keep using. You can only change characters when you lose a game in your matches. Please do not deviate from this. For example, two guys play, and one guy wins his first two games with Mileena, the losing guy chooses Jade each time. The losing guy then changes from Jade to Smoke, but the other guy HAS TO KEEP USING MILEENA until he loses a game. If someone tries to change their character after winning with someone else, you can refuse. DON’T play, then complain after the fact if you lose. Let me know if anyone is awkward and keeps trying to change. Again, you can only change your character when you lose a game first! Edit: this rule carries over into your next match. So if you eliminate one opponent with SZ, you start your next match with Sub Zero.
In light of the last tournament, everyone was seeded/ranked. As this is being run through the Tio Organiser, the tournie matches people based on skill. 1 is usually considered the best, while 10 is considered the worst. For the purposes of this tournament, i’ve given all the new entrants a flat score of 5. I’m aware in most cases this is not a true reflection of skill, but without all of us having played, it will be impossible to rate that fairly. Of course, this tournie is your chance to go up in rank.
If some of you have the means to record your matches, please do! We manged to get some of the last tournie matches recorded which was then put into the video section at the front.
