Mortal Kombat HD Remix with MUGEN

I evened up the nose/nostrils, here is a animated before+after to see the difference:

Probably not a big deal, but once I saw it, I couldnt "unsee" it :)

The purist in me wants the same reflection. But the artist in me appreciates the new look better. Put me in for a vote to keep Bleeds reflection.

That's one thing I liked about uker's the sunglasses on his was more true to the original.. MrMos3s' glasses don't look bad but if the goal is to be as close as possible to the original uker's does the job more.

Fixed his nostril and his hair. I'm still really liking Bleed's reflection on the glasses and I don't think the difference will change the feel of the original too much, but there seems to be mixed feelings on this still. Let me know what you guys think.

Awesome, this one looks good enough for me.

I'll work on Cage's ending tomorrow I think, if I have time. I'm busy with some other stuff I need to get done tonight.

:) Just figured out that Cage looks like Kenshi who all of the sudden decided to abandon blindfold and got himself glasses. Early '90s sure had some huge shades... Anyway, the pic looks great. I would go with uKER's shades, but either option seems fine.

Well, here's what should hopefully be my final jab at Cage.
Credits go to falconsfan for the hair pic, jmanimal for the nose which I based on, and MrMos3s for the background.

Hey, guys, I know you prefer 3D models for the illustrations, but again I tried to do a drawing based on the original images. This time I drew the first scene of the Johnny Cage's ending. Hope you like it;

Superb work, man! One thing I would change though is hair. I would go with MrMos3s on that one, but otherwise I would opt for your picture for the select screen.

Got started on the Liu Kang portrait for now, should have something to show by tomorrow night hopefully.

Hey, Mr. M. Would it be too much bother for you to try and implement the hair from your Cage to uKER's? I think that would be a definitive Cage mugshot.

uKER did great however the style is different and wouldn't match the rest of the portraits. I think the vote is to keep bleed's reflections also. I 'think' we're going final on Cage now.

Now why do I get the impression that "the style is different and wouldn't match the rest" is an euphemism for "I didn't make it myself so we're not using it"?

Anyway, here's a version without the spiky hair and accurate background lights.

Nice work on this.

uKER's edit looks good too, I see the effort in matching it almost exactly. The problem with painting too much here is, that it ends up looking too blurry, like a scaled up sprite. It needs to stay sharper so it matches the other portraits.

Nah, not at all what I meant. I'm using the 3D artists renders as a starting point and altering them rather than a complete recreation.

Like you, I also came here originally showing off a scorpion that I painted completely in photoshop without using the 3D model as a starting point, without using the 3D model it just lacks a lot of the fine details we're looking for and doesn't match the other portraits.

I wasn't kidding when I said what you did was great, you are definitely talented, is there something specific that is driving you crazy about my render?

Well, uKER's portrait looks like drawing. While MrMos3s finalized Kage in more realistic way.
Both works are excellent, but style should match.
