Problems with MKAK...

I was thinking about getting this collection but from what Im gathering these half assed ports are worse than midway arcade treasures I have the ds verson of umk3 and it was done by other ocean and it plays really well I wonder what happened did they just rush these out WHY? we already have mk9 I dont get it

Other Ocean's (the developer who did the Kollection for NRS) website is here:

http://www.otherocean.com/

If you can do so politely, without making us all look like raging idiots lol, i suggest emailing their 'Contact us' address about these issues. Or maybe we need to email NRS about it. All i know is that we shouldn't settle for a mediocre Arcade Collection.

Yes I fully agree with you we should not settle for a Mediocore Arcade Kollection this is serious BS I cant believe NRS would Jip us like this for $10. Ive been jipped before by friends, family and now this? This is Insanely rediculous why didnt they check the game first to make sure it worked properly before releasing it? isnt that what they also do before releasing a title? NRS really needs to fix this problem with Ocean or I want my money back

You guys would rather illegally play a game then deal with a few changes on a digital download? I can't stand this crap anymore. All everybody does nowadays is complain. Suck it up for a change and enjoy what we got. If online is that bad play with friends offline like I do. At least the UMK3 characters get saved to the hard drive.

Were not talking about "dealing with a few changes" here....these games were touted by Ed Boon and NRS as 'Arcade Perfect' ports, and they are anything but that. Here are just a few examples of things that are hardly minor:

--You cant make ANY of the games fullscreen. Heck, even the standalone MK2 thats still on PSN allows you to do that. Just screams laziness, im sorry.
--In UMK3, if you play two players, YOU CANT ENTER THE VS SCREEN CODES!!! That's right, not at all...it doesnt work.
--I had UMK3 crash on me in the game settings menu, had to reset my PS3
--If you pull up the moves list to look up a fatality, etc...when you unpause your character is unable to move for 2-3 seconds. Kind of pointless to have a list for me to look up a fatality when the time is right when the game will not even let me do the move before my fatality time runs out

There's no way im going to sit here and just accept these ports as they are....its my $10 i shelled out for 'arcade perfect' ports, and theyre anything but. If you want to settle for mediocrity, be my guest.

Even the standalone MK2 thats still available on PSN was able to be made full screen. I dont even understand how any of these three games in the Kollection are only able to be played with borders when its been shown (with the other PSN MK2) that it can be played full screen. Just seems like the time wasn't taken that was needed.
the Borders dont look right when you play they should have never added borders they just dont look right..they should have just made it full screen instead that would have been better :(

Am I the only one who didn't get an Achievement for beating MK1? It says you have to "finish Mortal Kombat", but does that mean I just need to beat it with one character or all of them?

We would suck it if they actually made the game good. They sold a broken piece of crap with too many glitches and a very laggy online. Almost everyone feels ripped off about this collection.

also i don't know what they made with backgrounds. look at armory... please!! in original games ed & company fill some background with a solid colour ok, but here =/
also when unlock the jade secret fight (smoke shoud be the same) the floor of the portal with the text "prepare yourself bla bla" dissapears some times then back and then dissapears again. also the bright they add to bg looks awful, looks at goro's lair in mk2. WTF!!??

today i've played some online fight and also notice 2 weird things in mk1.
1- cage's uppercut colision box.. i don't know if it was the lag or what but i've hitted my oponent once he was behind me.
2- both players made an air attack and 1 of them won but both tooks the damage o_O

if online isn't fixed then is a waste of money

i forgot to say:
i was looking into the game files and it sounds that mk sounds were redone.. there are files titled like: Sounds_MK1_Redux_SF etc.
mk2 and umk3 files are named as: Sounds_MK2_Original_SF and Sounds_MK3_Original_SF

also the game is called as MK HD Kollection =/

this is the last mk related purchase for me. i wasn't going to buy this; then i changed my mind at the last minute, because i thought "there is no way they will mess up the 3 games that built NRS and boon's career.". cheated again. if other ocean had delivered this mess to me, i would've sued them, got my money back, and had someone else do it. selling this to the public is not right. can a patch even fix the problems? if not, then ed is coming off looking like the used car salesman who would knowingly sell you a lemon. are you telling me that he played this port, and still felt confident enough in it to write his blog entry, co-signing these releases? well, at least we each only lost $9.99. when boon lied to daniel pesina, it cost him potential millions of dollars. and i like how they erased daniel from the side of the mk1 cabinet on the selection screen:( you win again, boon. well played, sir.

Dude can you tell me about the ed boon and daniel pesina thing you just posted, sadly i am an MK fan and i dont know about it. About boon lying to daniel. What is it please

The only issue I have with this Kollection is that online is downright HORRIBLE!!!!! It's alot worse than MK9 online. Looks like I'm sticking to offline with this game until they fixed the awful lag. All the other issues, like sound glitches, don't mean shit to me.

Because it suppose to be a perfect arcade port. What a joke. I found out a long time ago there wasn't going to be screen stretching like on umk3 on xboxla. I was disappointed then and I'm disappointed now. The option to make it full screen should ha e been added. I was under the impression that nothing was being changed from the final versions of the arcades but if they had time to change some sounds and add different picture options they should have added a few extra things also. Disappointment is all I can say so far

*crosses fingers*

Getting the trial for the 360 as we speak. REALLLLY hope this goes well, I want to add this to my collection lol

It's not just lazy programming, it's EXTREMELY LAZY programming.

These games are all over 15 years old. How hard could it really be to get it right? I bet an undergrad group of 5 or 6 seniors from Georgia Tech could get it right in a week or so.

So this isn't just lazy. This is a complete F-You and a sign that NRS does NOT CARE about its fans at ALL.

If they don't care about us, why should we care about them?

Goro's lair music was a piss off, and online is so damn laggy.... Like cmon! This game can run on an snes for crying out loud, how much bandwidth do you need?

I saw that interview, and trying to find it again found this- http://tteymur.wordpress.com/2011/0...terview-with-dan-pesina-someone-you-all-know/

But yeah, there are some serious problems with this game. Goro's Lair music cutting out, "new" sounds that aren't even correct, no widescreen support, hard crashes and atrocious latency issues... I even think they forgot to raise UMK3's internal volume, but that could just be the wonky sound problems throwing me off. Like I said earlier, at this point, with all the complaints it's getting I'm really starting to believe these games are actually being emulated inside the Unreal Engine. At first I just thought what Zaq suggested, that the Unreal tech was just being used for the cabinets in the menu. But, if it is being used in game (they have to do the curved monitor filter somehow), it confirms two things - 1. Why we have such terrible lag issues, because who would use something so taxing to handle something that takes up such little resources, and 2. That this really might have been some seriously lazy programming. Again, if this is true it can be seen that they just threw the games into an already available engine and just let it do it's thing instead of actually coding it from the ground up and playtesting it. The fact that the words KOF12 are being thrown around is something that should never, ever happen.

Keep in mind, Ed doesn't own WB. So to say he and the rest of NRS could get pressured into doing something would be an understatement. But there's no excuse for this, it needs to be fixed.

In all fairness, it seems like none of that is Boon's fault.

Ed Boon is a programmer. He has no idea the legal implications of acting, royalties, etc. Daniel Pesina should have sat down with a lawyer from Midway and asked any questions he had. Ed Boon is in no position to be able to explain the legalities of a contract.

Even before MK exploded, Midway was still a large company. Remember, it along with Williams was part of Bally, and even back then Bally was huge with their casino games and health clubs. So I'm sure there was a corporate lawyer that Pesina could have discussed the contract with. I'm sure there was a lawyer present at some point for the signing of the contract, a big company like that wouldn't just send out a programmer to go hire talent and work out the details of payment.

I'm sure he probably did get screwed, but it's not Boon's fault. He isn't a lawyer.

True, but he might have been pressured from WB to rush the project. That's what I was getting at before, the same thing happened to SSF2THDR. It's also why I think we ended up with Freddy in MK9 instead of a fourth MK character.

Truth be told I was hoping this was for us hardcore fans but I see now they don't care. The average Joe will not find any of these problems and that's ok with nrs or whoever
