    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

Even if it was legal, I still would not do it. I don't like the way it makes me feel. I think maybe it is because I smoked too much when I was younger that now that I am older I just don't like it. I know a lot of people who feel the same way as I do. Was talking to my neighbor last night, she said the exact same thing.

In fact, I have done so many drugs that I don't even want to touch any of them. I refused taking oxy even when I got 3rd degree burns all over my arm. Even when I see them, I just turn the other direction. Even when I am drunk at a party and I see people putting anything up their nose, I just get away.

My problem that if it was legal, there would too many half retarded people when you are trying to hold a conversation.

Edit: I read this thread as Legalization of Cannibals, I was like hell ya, nom nom.

To LC as well: The main argument a lot of people use about legalization IS personal responsibility though. What I'm saying, however, is that it's a poor rationale for making marijuana legal. That isn't the same as saying "since I think legalizing it would hurt people, I want to ban other things". Strawmanning me doesn't change that. Neither will stamping your foot and proclaiming me to be The Man and hate freedom, as the subtext of Critical's rebuttal suggests.

Another point no one has thought to bring up yet (to my knowledge) is that MJ being illegal still does deter a lot of people who would otherwise consume it from doing so, because they know they could: lose their job, their freedom, self-respect in society, money from fines, etc. While the drug war itself has questionable efficacy, the deterrent value itself exists.
lol I'm not flying off the handle. Sorry you take it that way.

I know you're playing devils advocate. I'm just making my points.

Hence why "I agree" Because most of what you said was true.

    how about you chill out?

your the one that blew up on LC with a condescending remark. I don't believe I was being rude/distasteful at all in my post.

Why deter it if someone who smokes it won't hurt anyone?

You should deter the bad actions through promise of punishment, not deter people who would've smoked it responsibly.

If something "Bad" happens as a result, it's the person's fault, not the drug.

    I'll just leave this here.

there are 6 parts and it's a bit old but a good watch.

Edit: Also I never said you hate freedoms. That comment about me being different was directed at the mainstream opinion. There are ALOT of people out there who think it should stay illegal. I had to watch a debate the other day where people had to argue if your obesity management was a responsibility of the government

    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

Nobody has died from cannabis so IMO it should be legal. As for alcohol. Alcohol is legal if your over the age limit. Yet people have chosen not to care about themselves and go through severe intoxication by drinking far too much that there liver just cant take anymore. and people have died drunk driving. I am not a smoker but i dont see the harm for cannabis users. But alcohol could be dropped down a notch if you know what i mean.

At the end of the day though this world makes no sense at all. So why bother haha.

Sorry about the alcohol talk haha just felt like adding it in.

I hope resurrecting threads isn't frowned upon in this establishment

I have no opinion on the subject, but have you noticed that most of the people who say "Marijuana opens your mind" are the dumbest motherf***ers ever?

    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

Yeah definitely legalize it. Honestly I would legalize all drugs.

You can go to the local pharmacy and get you some drugs (a months worth) If you are buying that drug for more than a month you have to take a 90 drug course. Then you are able to buy the drug again for another month.
(That goes for other drugs not weed) You should be able to buy weed whenever you like.

The thing is I know people say weed isn't bad at all. But I have watched smart people go to ignorant stoners after a while of use. It starts out someone goes to school high and says they did better on a test. We all know that is not true. But you start to notice it... people seem more ignorant.

But i am going off topic... if all drugs were legal we would not have to worry about them being laced or harmful. Because if you want a drug you can get it no doubt. Why not get it safe? <-- I probably would not legalize all drugs if it were up to me i am just putting that out there.

Maybe if drugs were legal, these people taking bath salts might not have been looking toward it as a option.

might have less people eating other people's faces off.

Even then the cases of deaths from biting face off.

Does not equal the number of deaths caused on border violence/black market.

    The alcohol industry doesn't win.

Prison's don't win. (They get money based on how many people they keep in prison so it kind of makes them want to spend some of their change to buy political opinion through lobbying)

Point is there are people making money on the war on drugs. they don't want it legalized. That's why they're pushing for a ban on even medical marijuanna recently.

    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

The food we eat is legal, but that doesn't mean it's not tainted or naturally contain harmful chemicals. (Pink slime, anyone?)

I also don't really like the idea of legalizing drugs like heroin, cocaine and other substances that are physically addictive and cause extreme withdrawls. These factors put them in a different category than weed since people don't tend to go to the same lenghts to aquire them when they can't afford them.

    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

Marijuana and other illegal drugs will likely remain illegal. The pharmaceutical companies, government-mandated health care, CIA, border gangs/patrolmen, street gangs, the prison industry, alcohol and tobacco industry and international ties/countries all depend on the illegality.

But, yes, I support full legalization of Marijuana. It is a natural, harmless plant from nature. Moreover, it doesn't matter if you use and/or support it; you shouldn't have the right to determine what someone else can do, if its not infringing on your rights and/or the rights of another. People should have the freedom to use or not use Marijuana. Its a victimless choice and activity. It is far less harmful than alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs.

    Re: Legalization of Cannabis?

Weed is natural, that is true. But it is not natural to set it on fire and inhale it. I'm not against weed, but the things that people say about it are kind of dumb. There are a lot of people who claim that some "god" created it and therefore it's ok to smoke it. facepalm....

Like..... I love beer. But is beer "meant to be?" Hell no. haha. I'm not going to say that we're supposed to make and drink it just because hops are natural.

I'm for it as long at they don't put in all of the harmful things that they put in cigs. It took me years to quit and I felt like a rehab patient.

Lol that's not really a good solution.

Imagine if everything was just decided like that.

Abortion is usually a good thing, especially if the parents are bad parents and/or couldn't afford to take care of their kid financially. That's a whole 'nother subject though.
