I thought Boon said that the DLC's on disc were gonna be free?

I'm pretty sure the klassic kostumes were on the disc already (due to the fact that we were able to do Scorps classic fatality if we didn't get the very first patch (no internet)), so why aren't the kostumes free? It kinda irks me, because they're not really worth the $5 being charged (to me anyways). Which makes me also think that they are charging extra for the work they had done before the game was released. It's not like they put in extra hours after the game release to make them, like they are for cyrax and sectors kostumes, which would then make since that they'd be charging for them...

Anyone else's thoughts on the matter?

I've been waiting for sub-zero's classic costume and fatality since release. I know there were rumors about getting all of them for free, but I really don't mind paying $5 for them.

I plan on purchasing all the DLC as long as the prices are reasonable just to support the development teams effort.

Short answer: yes, we were promised. No, it didn't pan out and we have to pay.

Maybe NRS was at fault, maybe WB or Microsoft couldn't resist getting some money out of the costumes. It could've come from the fact that some classic costume codes were going for insane prices on eBay and someone decreed it was no longer a wise business move to give them away. Etc etc.

Just a heads-up, there's a high likelihood that this threads gonna draw a lot of raised voices and similar responses.

lol i think its great they charged for them. that means more funding for more dlc. a true Mortal Kombat fan would be happy about this.

Maybe it's because if they were free people who got them in the in the Tournament Edition would be upset because they had to pay extra for them. I don't know though. Five bucks really is not that bad compared to some companies DLC.

I don't mind I mean if it was free I would be happy but $5 isn't enough to complain about and NRS is a business they are out to please fans and make money at the same time this does both

By now you would think all of us MK fans would realize that anything that falls from Boon's mouth carries about as much weight as a fart filled with helium. Word to the wise, always set your expectations low for Boon and you'll find yourself slightly surprised instead of justly jilted. ;-)

Ed Boon doesnt own WB or Sony, and they are over him, Boon can just suggest a price or want them to be free but the companies I mentioned before have the final call, is not Boon's fault, he is not a liar.

That, kind sir, would make Boon a liar no matter how much paint you throw on the picture.

Boon may not be intentionally lying most likely he was going to give out klassics for free and announced he would but WB decided to make us pay for them

Exactly! I most certainly do not claim nor think Boon INTENTIONALLY lied. I highlighted the 3rd definition of a lie to emphasize that technically, and according to Webster's Dictionary and the English language in general, he lied. Now, it is not above Boon to intentionally lie, as made clear by the statement that this will be a darker, more serious incarnation of MK... only to include the dumbest of ****ing dumb... Babalities. So ya, I don't have any man-love for Boon. I just play his video games... well, at least the 4 that were good. lol

It's just 5 bucks, won't miss the money at all. I already had classic Sub-Zero, but it will be nice to have the other ones. If it was free, that would have been awesome, but regardless of what Ed said, I knew (and think a lot of us did too) that they would charge for them. No surprise.

Uhh..We didn't pay extra for the skins. We paid $150 for the game (60) and the stick (90, which is a STEAL)

Guys seriously its five dollars. FIVE. So Ed Boon made a promise he couldnt keep, he's human. If you really love MK youll man up and pay five bucks so that the development team can give use some great dlc down the line

Yeah it sucks that we ended up having to pay for them, but oh well.....I bought it and am happy with my purchase. Like many others have said, it's only 5 bucks. It could have been worse.

A true MK fan would be happy about this, sure. But there are people who are true MK fans but also educated about the revenue that gaming companies bring in. They made MORE THAN ENOUGH money to make a huge profit and still work on DLC.

Ed Boon did lie about a TON of things.
