as a long term action rpg player and adventurer this game looks incredible!!! new combat system, graphics engine and dragons. just wanna get ur thoughts guys and gals. this is a definite pre-order launch day pick up for me. what about u guys? yay or nay?

It's a launch-day buy for me as well. This is one of the games that I've been looking forward to the most this year. It looks like the combat mechanics have been greatly improved, and being able to use magic with one hand and use a weapon with the other is something that I've always wanted in the Elder Scrolls series. Plus, you play as a viking that fights dragons (And possibly even gets to control them). What's not to love about that?

The only thing I'm worried about is how they will handle the ending. Bethesda is infamous for their anti-climatic endings where you stand around doing nothing while the climax of the story happens around you.

There are 2 games that debut this year that are must-haves: Mortal Kombat and Skyrim.

As much as I like Skyrim, I probably won't be preordering it unless they have a pretty good pre-order special. It definitely looks awesome though. I'm glad they got rid of those awkward faces that Oblivion had though lol.

What can I expect from this game as a Fallout 3 player?

From my perspective (having played both), think Fallout 3 minus the post-apocalyptic setting and without guns. There probably isn't as much humor as in Fallout 3 and NV, but thats a minor thing imo. If you had fun with Fallout 3 then you'll definitely enjoy Skyrim.

I wasn't able to pick up my jaw off the floor when I saw the announcement trailer. I've been waiting for a new Elders Scrolls game for a long time, over 4 years now, I think. It's bad that the Mass Effect treatment is going to have to wait, since I'll obviously be playing the **** out of Skyrim for a couple of months. And I still add to my 700+ hours of Oblivion gameplay from time to time, too.
PS: I hope there's unicorns...

Lol, that reminds me of the horse armor dlc for some reason... After I played Fallout 3 I couldn't go back to Oblibion without looking at it the same. Both were awesome games though, and New Vegas was awesome too. Mass Effect is pretty cool too.

The only series I love more than Mortal Kombat, is Elder Scrolls. I cannot wait until 11.11.11!

My username actually comes from Morrowind as a matter of fact ^_^

Meh, ES are better than ME, but ME has nice story and character development, that's my favourite thing about it. For some odd reason, I still haven't even played New Vegas, I just don't feel like it. Maybe some day when I can spend the better part of the day in front of my PC...
When I start a high-class RPG , I usually spend around 7 to 9 hours a day playing it, I'm taking it pretty far. I even dream that I'm playing the game. Ah, precious felling.
By the way, I hope the quests in Skyrim are good. Fallout 3 and Oblivion had some very interesting quests, so I have my hopes high for Skyrim. I like the setting and looking at screenshots brings nostalgia. It's a good thing I'll have MK to keep me company.

Well, I'll say this, people who say New Vegas is Fallout 3.1 have a good argument; both are very similar yet far apart (if that makes sense heh). I'm positive Skyrim is going to have some great quests though, and the game looks awesome; from the cities to the water to the forest and etc. When I saw Skryim's menu system I was amazed; they made it fit perfectly.

I loved Fallout 3, but Vegas was meh for me. Everything felt like a rehash and nearly nothing groundbreaking was introduced.

I've never played any Elder Scrolls games before, but it sounds like Skyrim would be sweet.

And I'm a WoW player, so this might be awesome for me. Cities, quests, and the like.

First, there's no VATS, and that's probably the biggest gameplay difference. Magic is another thing that FO3 doesn't have. Previous Elder Scroll games had a bigger focus on melee attacks than Fallout does. There are ranged attacks (bow and arrows, crossbows, magic, etc.), but FO focuses more on that whereas TES focuses on both ranged and melee pretty equally.

The other big difference it the atmosphere. FO3 takes a lot less freedom with its fantasy since zombies and gigantic insects are a lot less far-fetched than dragons, yetis and werewolves, but it's also based on more modern tools whereas TES is more medieval in it's approach.

Supposedly, Skyrim is supposed to change a lot of the gameplay we got in Oblivion, and Fallout 3/New Vegas use the same gameplay engine as Oblivion, so a lot the basic gameplay in Skyrim may be very different from the Fallout game.

The thing that killed Vegas for me was the bugs. One bug that really pissed me off was when I couldn't level up in a new game after I beat it for the first time. I had to keep creating new accounts on my 360 just to play it again...

Yeah, the bugs really hurt the experience; it was a blast though. I remember one bug when the casino guys won't give your weapons back; sometimes they stole my companions gun, it was annoying; but at least they followed up with patches to solve most of the bugs.
