Rated Mature for Strong Language & Partial Nudity?

its quite a bit more gorey than anything i have seen in video game terms, it will be MA here in australia, im just glad its not being banned(yet)

Okay so? As long as its not a porno video game, then they wont give it a Adults only rating here in the US and Canada.

@Sub-Zero_Wraith - your argument is perfectly justified and it makes total sense. +1

when it comes to video games in australia, our censorship board is extremely inconsistant since we have no adults rating and less gory video games have been banned over here then its normal to come to the conclusion that it would be banned over here, im just glad that it wont be, well it will be on sale in australia for a while i remember with manhunt they released it then it got banned later on so a similar thing might happen(hopefully not)

But nobody said everything in their life had to have nudity. So, when you were calling people pathetic, you meant some other people somewhere else, right? I did read your post. You used the word 'you' a lot. 'You' and 'you people.' But no, you meant 'you' hypothetically. The 'you' in this case was a person, I suppose, not in this forum reading your post. You implied that the only purpose for nudity in a video game would be for pornographic purposes. My point was that the concepts of sexuality, nudity and pornography, though of course not mutually exclusive, are also not intrinsically related.

But to be fair, you're right, I did put words in your mouth. So, in your own words, would you actually say that the only aesthetic purpose for a nude female figure is pornography?

You're given me a question that doesn't really have a cut and dry answer. I agree with you about the Greek statues being art and not pornographic. However, the world we live in, at least in the US, everything is overly sexualized because that's what sales. It is kind of hypocritical to talk about having "class" in a game that the main concept is beating the shit out of your opponent, but just because you have something rated M for such things, doesn't, in my opinion, mean that you/they (developers or customers) should just say, "Oh well since its already M for violence, let's just through nudity into for the hell of it."

I guess what I pretty much am trying to say is... if it makes sense for the game, then it is okay... but don't put it in just for the hell of it.

A few examples of games that I played that nudity made "sense" to be in it would be God of War and Dante's Inferno-- both games contained nudity, but it wasn't abundant, and it wasn't just for the hell of it.

Do you get what I'm saying?

If that's the case, then you and I agree. I'd say for sure, that if MK contained nudity, it'd be in the same vain as Dante's Inferno and God of War, and that'd be totally acceptable. My thing is, it's all exploitation. When we start cherry picking what kinds of exploitative things are okay, and which are pornography, that's when you start getting into shaky territory. It calls into question if we value violence over sex culturally. Like, I understand what you're saying about things in America being over-sexualized, but compared to Europe and other regions, we're actually very, very conservative. I can show realistic impalings and decapitation and all kinds of gore on prime-time television, but the appearance of a nipple makes the country explode.

That's not necessarily a bad thing in some ways, but when we have a ratings system in place that keeps games like MK out of the hands of children, if something would be more real or awesome with some sexuality in the mix (as it is in God of War and Dantes Inferno), I'd rather not have a hand held over my eyes.

But yeah, I think we basically agree.

Was there ever any doubt?

Nice sig by the way, Riki-Oh is the dopeness.

:canabis::stoned:Well, Yes...I was afraid of an AO Rating. The ESRB says that any game with scene's of prolonged intense violence and/OR graphic sexual content and nudity(Not Both Intense Violence and Graphic Sexual Content) would receive a AO Rating and I really don't want that since I would think this game has intense prolonged brutal fights including X-Rays and Fatality's. I am super happy that it has received a M Rating though.

joshuaalt you do not make sense because why would this game get the AO rating in the US if this game does not get banned in the UK, when they are a bit more harsh with violence? When God of War 3 has the very brutal scenes and the sexual stuff why would this game with cartoonish graphics get the AO rating? When Manhunt 2 which has a serial killer that can remove testicles with pliers over 3 years ago got the AO rating, that causes several people to say all of this nonsense.

The "Strong Language" probably refers to how badly Shao Kahn's insults damage your ego...

LOL

I wouldn't get all worked up about it...ESRB has been a bit more strict on slapping the Partial Nudity warning on games since full nudity has started becoming a bit more commonplace. Mileena's ultra skimpy outfit definitely qualifies as partial nudity.

MK9 IS partial-Nudity

It does look like Jade's nipples are being shown after Noob demolished her in Goro's Lair.
It's at around 1:03 in Noob's gameplay video.

Re: MK9 IS partial-Nudity

IDK i was wondering about this when i saw mileena's strap came off, I guess we'll have to wait till the game comes out

Re: MK9 IS partial-Nudity

So should we be protesting the game now? Its a mature game, its expected. If you dont want your kids seeing them, dont let them play. If youre too scared to see naked polygonal women, dont play. Simple as that.
