Netflix adds Mortal Kombat to Watch Instantly Catalog

The digital age of movies has arrived. With Internet video services streaming movies directly to TVs, physical media such as DVDs and Blu-ray Discs are becoming less of a factor. The true value in these streaming services is that they bring out of print or poorly distributed movies to a much greater audience. Arriving fashionably late to this game is the video game cult-classic Mortal Kombat.

Netflix has added Mortal Kombat to it's ever growing Watch Instantly catalog of streaming movies to your computer or TV. If you're a subscriber, you're a mere few clicks away from watching one of the biggest movies of 1995 and arguably one of the better video game movie adaptations.

I really want to try out netflix, I've heard good things about the instant que.

And MK is a klassic! I love every second of it (except sometimes I skip past goro vs art) I watched it a few weeks ago on dvd one night. Oddly enough, when I woke up the next morning FX was playing Annihilation at 8 am. I don't care what anyone says, annihilation is a good movie too

I've watched though the entire conquest serious a few times latly, too bad it wasn't longer

95 was a good year not only did the fantastic MK come out but also my other top pick,the ultra-funny Dirty work.

Of all the video game movie-adaptations, Mortal Kombat is the best. There's no doubt about it. It definitely holds up, to this day.

Sadly, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation is the absolute worst. Bottom of the barrel crap. Now, my mind will inevitably change once Tekken finally sees the light of day, but Annihilation was memorably atrocious.

Conquest was a great series, despite the fact that it struggled to define its identity and style for a few episodes. The Kreeya storyline was also awful.

As I discovered today, this movie is streaming in HD as well! So better quality than the old DVD release from what I can tell.

I watched Mortal Kombat on Netflix yesterday. It is the best source of the movie that you will find anywhere; just fantastic quality. The movie has never looked better. Maybe someday, it will receive a DVD release with quality equivalent to Netflix.

It's likely we may get a re-do of the DVD and a matching Blu-ray disc later this year. I'd hope along with the release of MK9. It's all WB now so it should be doable.

If I had Netflix I'd be watching this in HD. If only that Blu-Ray release wasn't Canada only...

Canada and US only, it comes out tomorrow and I'll have a review up comparing it to the Netflix copy once I get it.
