i'm not sure if this real or not. apparently there is a new 2d fighter (with digitized actors) on the way to arcades called dark presence. here is the link http://www.gallopingghost.com/dark/
you be the judge.

What, I looked at the screen shots..and those look hilarious...and not in a good way.
I'm pretty sure they want to look like that.

Those look a little better than the ones at the main site, but their main site hasn't been updated since November of last year so I'm not sure if they're still working on it or not. Is there any release date for it? I doubt any of us will get to play it considering hardly any arcades exist anymore, and the places that do have arcade games normally just buy the best releases from the big game companies.

Looks low quality all around. With better digitalization it becomes easier to notice details and how crappy it all looks. The original MK costumes looked very cheesy IRL but in-game they looks as good as anything else.

I think this quote from the site Krypt posted just about says it all:
Not a single digitized fighter outside of MK has ever been worth playing, and this just looks like a bad Photoshop project.I have often said that someone should make a new 2D, digitized fighting game. Actually, I think instead of "someone" I've said "the Mortal Kombat team."

i sent galloping ghost an email the other day. they replied back! of course i was formal as always :P Thanks for your interest in Dark Presence. *I assure you its not a hoax. We have held off on the video as we want the animations to be as smooth as possible before we show it. *Its a lot of work. *If you have followed our development, you know its been a long time in production, but to give you an example of how big our game is, and why its taking so long to put it out, please take this in to consideration. - The first two Mortal Kombat games each character had about 250 frames of animation including their finishing moves per character.- The most animated 2-D fighting out right now is King of Fighters XII where each character has about 1,700 frames of animation. In Dark Presence our character are over 17,000+ frames each, NOT including finishing moves. If you added all the frames of animation in the first 3 Mortal Kombat games its still less than ONE of our characters. *On top of that, many of the frames ...
... in MK are reused from character to character. We do plan on showing a lot more of the development VERY soon...things just been hectic as we are also opening the first Galloping Ghost Arcade. * If you have any specific questions on anything please feel free to ask* Thanks* Doc
sounds too legit to quit.
I've been waiting for their arcade to open for a while. They have a website but it's just listed as August.

Yes! I am waiting for this to appear in the arcades and hopefully it will be in home consoles as well. The best things I like about this game so far is that it has 3 finishers THAT CAN BE LINKED INTO ONE and the fact that it is REALISTIC with weapons and no powers. Just the way how I like it!!!
Violence, blood, guts, gore, nudity, sexual themes, strong language, good graphics, good gameplay, good storylines, sexy guys, and sadistic chicks are all features that would make the best video game ever in the world.
well, i've been chatting with galloping ghost productions some more here you go: * We do hope to release Dark Presence on home console. *Our only concern with doing that is with the massive size of the game, it may have to ship on its own hard drive. *With all of our background variations, and HD finishing move videos it really makes it very large. *Right now the game is about 1TB of data (not yet compressed though) but still it is pretty massive. *I can assure you most everyone on staff is VERY into fighting games and classics like Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II are really what made us want to make a fighting game. *We really want to push what has ever been seen before and make a game that is really top quality and plays great.* No official date on its release yet. *Our finishing move videos still have a lot of editing work to be done to them (its over an hour and a half of video if you watched all the finishing moves)...
We are really hoping to have a demo video up soon, but we don't have an official date for that yet either. *I would be happy to keep you posted though. *I appreciate your kind words towards our project and would like to send you one of our Dark Presence t-shirts if you would like. *Please just let me know your shirt size and where to send it.* Thanks* Doc
THESE GUYS ROCK!!!!! i'm going to sport there t shirt and support their game proudly. i'll keep y'all posted with any new info.
So am i the only one who regurgitated a little bit looking through the screenshots?
character designs are awfully bad not to mention their names, LOL Mind Master, Vamphyrial? HAHA they look like they went into a Party Store and bought a bunch of halloween accessories and put them on, "guys we look so badass" haha...and yes i'am quite aware that alot of the MK costumes were improvised but they still edited the digitized sprites.
LOOK OUT FOR DARK PRESSENCE IT MIGHT JUST GOBBLE UP ALL YOUR QUARTERS!
sorry but im a little under the influence atm..
I thought this was an old game. I could swear I seen this in the arcades a while back. Maybe it's a remake? I don't know, i can be mistaken.
